Haelvoet awarded Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship for the fourth time

Haelvoet has once again obtained the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO). With this recognition for the 2025–2026 cycle, the company confirms for the fourth time its strong commitment to sustainable and future-oriented entrepreneurship.

The positive evaluation underlines that sustainability is not a stand-alone initiative, but a structural part of the company strategy.

During the evaluation, Haelvoet presented ten concrete sustainability actions. All actions were positively assessed. According to the evaluation committee, sustainability is clearly a strategic priority, visible throughout the entire organisation — from employees to end users.

Concrete progress in sustainability
In 2025, Haelvoet also made significant progress in the areas of energy, efficiency and circularity.

Energy and climate
Haelvoet invested in expanding its solar energy installation by 298.8 kWp, representing 664 solar panels. Combined with 800 kWh battery storage and an energy management system (EMS), locally generated energy is optimally controlled and utilised.

The company also continuously monitors its energy and gas consumption, enabling targeted optimisation.

Efficiency and logistics
The dispatch area was expanded from 700 m² to 1,500 m². This expansion ensures a more efficient flow of goods, fewer internal transport movements and a more ergonomic working environment.

More sustainable use of materials
Haelvoet mapped the use of plastic adhesive tape: 49,896 metres per year. The transition to more sustainable alternatives, such as paper tape, has now been successfully implemented. Implementation has also started at the production site in Romania.

Circular solutions in healthcare
Instead of selling hospital beds, Haelvoet offers them based on usage. Healthcare institutions can choose functionality over ownership: a clear step towards circular entrepreneurship, aligned with evolving needs in the healthcare sector.

This model allows the entire life cycle of the beds to be actively managed. Through maintenance, repair and refurbishment, products remain in use longer and retain their value, leading to less waste and more efficient use of materials.

At the same time, hospitals benefit from high-quality and innovative solutions without high upfront investments, with guaranteed support and optimisation. This creates a sustainable model with both ecological and economic added value.

Focus on employees and ergonomics
The strong focus on ergonomics and workplace satisfaction initiatives translates into a pleasant and well-organised production environment. Evaluators explicitly described this as a best practice for other manufacturing companies.

Sustainable entrepreneurship as a structural pillar
The evaluation confirms that sustainable entrepreneurship is firmly embedded within Haelvoet. Since obtaining the SDG Pioneer certificate in 2024, the company has continued to build a structured approach, with an internal working group and growing involvement across departments.

With four VCDO certificates and a structural approach across all departments, Haelvoet reinforces its commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector.
